President, Defense Engineering & Sustainment

Maria Proestou is VTG’s President, Defense Engineering & Sustainment SBU. At VTG, she is responsible for applying engineering services across the enterprise and developing strategies to meet the government’s most pressing mission priorities. She has served as a keynote speaker at the Fortune Magazine “Best Places to Work” Annual Conference presenting Workplace Flexibility: Managing Challenges and Success and was invited to participate in the White House Forum on Workplace Flexibility, which kicked off executive branch workplace improvement initiatives. Proestou maintains an active role in the professional services industry, particularly with the Professional Services Council (PSC) where she serves on the Executive Committee as well as the Executive Advisory Board of the Defense and Intelligence Council (DIC). She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Fletcher Women’s Network and is active with the Women in Defense organization of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA).

Maria holds a Bachelor’s degree from The George Washington University, specializing in national security policy and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from Tuft’s University where she completed a dual-thesis in international security studies and finance.
