Rapid Prototyping & Fabrication

Concept to Completion

Today’s accelerated mission pace demands rapid development and fielding of prototypes and at-scale precision fabrication. VTG transforms emerging concepts into practical solutions across the development lifecycle, applying advanced software and hardware engineering, 3D modeling, 3D printing, and streamlined ease-of-use manufacturing. With more than six decades of expertise in “build to print” and innovative system design, VTG marries expert software development with advanced hardware design to ensure complete systems perform in even the most austere environments.

Accelerating Idea to Innovation

VTG brings unmatched domain expertise in advanced fabrication techniques—such as NAVSEA approved welding, additive manufacturing, and precision machining—ensuring high-quality components comply with the exacting standards of submarine and surface ship construction. The strategic outsourcing of precision fabrication work for Virginia and Columbia-class submarine construction that must meet the most stringent quality and performance standards is essential to support both classes’ efficient and timely production. In addition, the new construction Ford-class aircraft carrier and Constellation-class frigate programs are needed to increase our Nation’s fleet size and outpace near-peer adversaries. VTG enables the rapid and precise fabrication of mission-critical components on these essential platforms. Our team is a trusted partner to the Nation’s prime contract shipbuilders, allowing the primes to focus on core assembly and integration tasks, while VTG handles smaller, truckable, high-precision components.

Fabricating the Future

VTG operates a 47,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility for hardware design and precision fabrication. This high-speed metalwork manufacturing resource can support any requirement, including the fabrication, assembly, and installation of electronic equipment components, equipment foundations, towers, and ventilation systems. Renowned for our work aboard ships and submarines, our products are built to Navy certifications—both in-shop and on the waterfront. Built to Specification

VTG fabricates full-size, realistic opposing-force targets used for training across military branches. The design and production of these surrogates requires ingenuity. Our team takes open-source information, such as photos or drawings, scales the model to its actual size, and then produces a surrogate that accurately emulates the real-world version of the threat. Rapid prototyping helps extend the life of existing platforms by enabling the quick replacement of obsolete or damaged parts and allowing for incremental upgrades rather than complete overhauls. The full-scale prototypes prepare forces to recognize and react to the real-world threats they might encounter in combat.
