The combination adds differentiated artificial intelligence/machine learning applications and unique submarine acoustic expertise to VTG’s growing naval systems portfolio.

Founded in 2001, ASSETT develops AI/ML applications for undersea and unmanned systems and is a longstanding industry leader in submarine SONAR acoustics and signal processing. In its mission-critical work to support defense modernization, the company has also developed and fielded a prototype integrated control system for combat submersibles and a battery management system for lithium-ion powered platforms.
ASSETT’s core capabilities include systems and cybersecurity engineering, software development and data science, with deep expertise in model-based systems engineering, DevSecOps, AI/ML, and human-machine teaming. The company has been remarkably adept at collaborating with customers to rapidly develop and field prototype technologies using Small Business Innovation Research phase three agreements and Other Transaction Authority contracts. Following the successful integration of two key acquisitions and numerous recent contract awards, the company is repositioning to offer an expanded range of engineering and sustainment services to a growing portfolio of Defense customers and to reflect the transformative solutions it now offers across naval, aerospace, network, and digital domains.
Tracing its earliest roots to 1866 and operating under the name VT Group since 2002, the company had previously managed unique capabilities each under separate company brands within the VT Group umbrella. Today’s move signals the consolidation of its enterprise-wide talent and capabilities under a single customer delivery model that combines innovative technologies, deep domain knowledge, and core engineering expertise with middle-market agility and responsiveness. Today’s announcement culminates the strategic transformation of the 150-year old company that began when Hassoun took the helm in 2017. Operational improvements, divestitures, acquisitions, and aggressive organic growth have all played critical roles in reshaping VTG for the future. In the last year alone, VTG acquired National Technologies Associates (NTA) to build out its aerospace engineering portfolio and doubled down in Navy shipbuilding and Fleet modernization by acquiring C5ISR and weapons systems engineering expert DELTA Resources. The company has also earned a string of prime contract wins with the US Navy’s major systems commands. VTG won two 10-year contracts to install advanced C5ISR systems on Navy warships, submarines, and shore installations; secured the flagship Presidential Helicopters support contract; and was selected to integrate directed energy laser weapons aboard Navy destroyers. The company also expanded its support to several other Defense Department customers, winning a prime vehicle to provide integrated base defense systems to Air Force facilities worldwide, and adding opportunities that enhance its digital transformation and IT modernization capabilities.

Chantilly, VA, October 22, 2019 – VT Group, a premier technology integrator and Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) solutions provider, has been selected by Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) as one of eight awardees for an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) multiple award contract in support of the Shore Global
C4ISR Installation Contract. VT Group will compete to perform the installation of integrated C4ISR and supporting systems at US Navy installations worldwide. The work will be performed at shore-based facilities, and on towers, piers, and platforms, as well as mobile systems and special purpose vehicles. The contract vehicle has a ceiling value of $968 million over a five-year base and one five-year option period. This past July, VT Group was awarded a similar contract to modernize C4ISR systems aboard the Navy’s growing Fleet of surface ships and submarines.
