Overview:
ASTRO is a broadly scoped series of contract vehicles encompassing virtually all services supporting or involving manned, unmanned, or optionally manned platforms and robotics. ASTRO is administered by the General Services Administration’s (GSA) Office of Assisted Acquisition Service (AAS) FEDSIM Organization. It is a family of ten separate, individual, Multiple Award (MA), Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts. ASTRO orders may only be placed by authorized COs within GSA’s Assisted Acquisition Service.

The scope includes operations, maintenance, readiness, research, development, systems integration, and support for manned, unmanned, and optionally manned platforms and/or robotics, as well as the services that support those platforms and robotics.

The scope of ASTRO spans many areas of expertise and includes any and all components required to formulate a total solution to a requirement, except for those services and products specifically prohibited in this contract. Solutions may include Ancillary Support Services and/or Ancillary Support Products. Under this SBIR Phase III effort, VTG provides innovative solutions through continued engineering development and delivery of technical products for improved Combat Systems that maximize effectiveness and suitability and reduce risk and total ownership cost to include manpower requirements for the Office of Naval Research/NavalX Program. NavalX is tasked with accelerating digital transformation within the Department of the Navy and speeding the delivery of warfighting capabilities to the fleet.

This effort uses existing and emerging technologies in architectures, infrastructure, models, analytics, and decision tools leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). This effort supports the design, development, and prototyping of an open digital environment that will enable engineering trades early in the design process and more informed decisions on affordability and effectiveness of future combat systems.

The intent of this SBIR III effort is to further develop the vehicle command and control backbone to simplify maintenance and allow system upgrades, including the integration of the Critical Battery Management System (CBMS), which can be maintained by the vehicle support group.
